Say Cheese!

It's not often that people look forward to doctor's appointments, but this kind of doctor appointment is different. Andrew and I count down the days and wonder what our little bambino is going to look like the next time we see him/her. As you can tell by the pictures below, the little one is definitely growing! The first ultrasound at 8 weeks didn't look like much of anything...a fuzzy little kidney bean, but now we can see a head and a nose at 12 weeks...so amazing! The baby was moving around a lot, and being "stubborn" as the technician noted (hmmm...I wonder who he/she got that from?). Baby Brausa was stretching it's legs and squirming around. It took an hour to get the pictures she needed, but the little one finally cooperated.

I asked the technician if she could tell the sex yet...she hesitated and said, "well, I think it might be a girl, but I'm not positive". Now I'm really confused, because I had a dream before I found out I was pregnant (around week 4) that we were having a boy. It's 50/50...and we have to wait until June 9th to fine out. It feels like ages away but this will help me learn to be more patient :)

OH, and the due date of course! How could I forget to tell you? It's October 30th. So, we are definitely having a little Scorpio, we just don't know if it will be in October or November...depends on how "stubborn" Baby Brausa decides to be. :)

8 week ultrasound on 3/22/10 - 1.73 cm

12 week ultra sound on 4/21/10 - 5.8 cm - mainly a picture of the head (top of head is on the right) and you can see the nose, chin and chest

What...You're Pregnant?!

YES WE ARE! Andrew and I found out we were pregnant on Feb. 28th, the first day of our 5th week of pregnancy. Even though this was planned it was still so surreal and it took a few days (or should I say weeks) to sink in that we were in fact going to be parents. We sprung into action and didn't waste anytime telling my sister and brother-in-law, Bobby (they live in Indiana). For those of you that don't know, Mollie is pregnant too! I couldn't wait to tell her that we were going to give her baby a cousin! Mollie had told me on my birthday (January 31st) that they were pregnant. I had no idea they were trying to have kids and she didn't know that we were trying either. When she told me she said, "Megan, you have to have a baby soon, it would be so much fun if our kids were like 3 months apart!". How's a month Mollie? :) She is 4 1/2 weeks further along than I am so these cousins will be very close in age. It has been a lot of fun telling family, and now being able to tell YOU makes it even more exciting!

I took a pregnancy test (well, actually 4) on Saturday morning and couldn't keep the news to myself. I had always thought that I wanted to tell Andrew in a creative way but I was too excited to think and I had too much anxiety and not enough patience to come up with anything. He was sitting on the couch so I took one of the digital pregnancy tests that said, Pregnant and stuck it under his baseball cap that was on our kitchen island. I told him to come over and look under his hat. Needless to say he was a little confused as to why I was asking him to do that, although I'm shocked the huge smile on my face wasn't a dead give-away. He picked up the hat and kind of just looked at the test not sure of what to make of it. I said, "read it, what does it say" He hesitated for a moment and said, "what, you're pregnant?!, no way!" I just started laughing and said, "YES!". Below is the sequence of actions that brought him to the conclusion...that we were pregnant!

"What, you're pregnant?!"

Here's the proof!

We tried to capture some other reactions and thought it would be fun to share with all of you...

Since we only had a day to figure out how we were going to tell Andrew's parents, we couldn't get as creative as we wanted too, but we think the cupcakes worked out just fine...and they tasted good too!

Andrew's Dad reading each cupcake aloud..."B-A-B-Y"....

Andrew's Mom figured it out after Steven read the cupcakes allowed, she looked at me and said, "You're Pregnant?" and that's when I took the picture

Andrew's younger sister Robyn and our brother-in-law Braden stopped by to hang out...and found out they were going to be an aunt and uncle!

This is my favorite reaction caught on camera!

Andrew's older sister, Heather gets the news after we begged her to come over after a long day of work

Heather's roommate Sarah...love the facial expression!

Mollie visited Dad and Claudia in Florida and told her she was pregnant...I was on speaker phone and said, "Me too!".

It's been really hard to keep this pregnancy a secret! We are beyond excited and feel really blessed to be going through this experience. I wanted to create this blog so that Andrew and I can update our family and friends with news of our growing baby and our life in general. A lot of you live in different parts of the country and we aren't able to see or speak with you as often as we would like. We are hoping this will be a way to stay a little more connected and to let you know what's going on in our lives.

As of now, I'll be updating the blog every week or two until the baby comes, and then I'm hoping to update more often.

Until next time....hugs and kisses to you all!
